Since the early 1990’s leaders and dedicated community members throughout Clarke County have worked toward the research and development of an ample and sustainable water resource that will support the future of Clarke County, Iowa and our surrounding neighbors.

THE CCRC IS PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE OF CLARKE COUNTY AND OUR SURROUNDING COMMUNITY:

Ample and safe water supply is crucial for various aspects of our community and economic development.

INDUSTRIAL GROWTH:

Water plays a pivotal role as a resource for manufacturing processes, cooling systems, and energy production. Industries heavily rely on water for operations, and shortages or contamination can disrupt production, leading to economic losses and potential unemployment. Additionally, an ample and secure water supply encourages future industrial investment and growth, as businesses are more likely to establish themselves in areas with reliable access to water resources so they too can grow.

THE HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY:

Access to safe drinking water is fundamental for preventing waterborne diseases and promoting overall well-being. Contaminated water sources can lead to outbreaks of disease, particularly affecting vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly. Ensuring a safe water supply through proper sanitation and water treatment systems is essential for reducing the burden of disease and improving public health outcomes.

SUPPORTING CLARKE COUNTY’S AGRICULTURAL LIVELIHOOD:

Agriculture, a cornerstone of Clarke County and rural Iowa, is heavily dependent on water for irrigation purposes. A reliable water supply is necessary to sustain crop growth and livestock health, ultimately ensuring food security. In regions like ours, where agriculture is the primary livelihood, water scarcity or poor water quality can devastate crops, leading to decreased yields, food shortages, and economic instability. Effective water management practices, including irrigation efficiency and community-wide conservation efforts, are critical for maintaining productivity in the face of growing water demands.

An ample and safe water supply is indispensable for fostering Clarke County Iowa’s industrial growth, safeguarding public health, and sustaining agricultural production, underscoring its significance for both economic prosperity and well-being of all who live, work, and play in Clarke County.
